Trail Captain Day, May 20, 2024

  • What: Our first Trail Day of the season is approaching quickly on April 20!
  • Location: poplar Grove Parking Lot
  • Time: 9:30 AM

Trail Captains will walk their given trails and carry out basic maintenance duties including raking/chucking loose debris off of the trail (leave materials that are embedded in the trail-keep the mountain in mountain biking right?!), cutting any small overhanging branches off of the trail and identifying any problem areas that need work including large trees and erosion. Issues should be reported on Trailforks.

This day is an important diagnostic tool to help us identify where we need to go back and spend more time and to get all of our trails running smoothly for the rest of the season. Do you have a trail or trails that are near and dear to your heart?. Sign up here. Can’t get out on the day? No problem! We can give you a route that you can take care of on a different day.

Please stop by the Poplar Grove Parking lot on your way out to your route for coffee and a treat. Please bring your own water and extra snacks. Work gloves, appropriate clothing and hand tools if you have them please. Rakes or rake type tools, spades, snips and handsaws this time around. PACA will lend the necessary tools if you need them.

Carpooling and rides can be arranged at the Poplar Grove parking lot morning of, if you have a route that is higher up in the network.

Children are welcome accompanied by an adult. Dogs are welcome if they are agreeable with other dogs and people.

Pedal with Purpose:

At the Penticton and Area Cycling Association (PACA), we’re all about bringing the joy of cycling to both city streets and countryside trails, making every ride an adventure for locals and visitors alike. But we don’t stop at just pedaling! Our team dives into charity events, green projects, and advocacy work, all fueled by our amazing volunteers and the awesome vibes of our cycling family.

Penticton is bike friendly! Explore the map!

Bicycles benefit businesses, employees, and the community alike. Our Bike Friendly Penticton Program aims to acknowledge and support businesses that encourage biking as a mode of transportation for their customers and staff. By making it more convenient for people to cycle, businesses can help reduce the number of cars on the roads, leading to lower emissions and promoting healthier lifestyles within our community.
