Rock Oven

A popular ride that can be as epic as you want. Stop and take photos from the several wicked view points or just hammer up and down.

Parking at the bottom of Smythe Road keeps the ride from ending on a wicked road climb.
Once you arrive at the parking lot, you can follow the ‘Route’ via Ward1 and carry that up to the 2-track climb. From there the signage will take you on your way. Alternately, you can take the Yellow Gate (NOT at Painted Rock Winery) at creek crossing just a hair below the parking lot and follow that 2-track all the way. The Ward1 route will Tee into this route.

After your descent through the rocks, you will pass through trees, grass and depending on season, a bit of a swamp. You will find yourself under the powerlines. Descend the rocky road until it sweeps left, take the singletrack on the right for about 100ft and take the next right. Flow this trail down to the road. There may be a point where a trail goes straight through, but you will need to take a hard left to stay on the gulley descent. Good luck, if you get lost head to the lake Wink

This ride is rated as difficult at a Black Diamond Level.

The trail does leave BC Parks area and crosses private property on the exit. If you happen upon a land owner, pleasant gratitude goes a long way.
