PACA Youth mtn biking Free Coaching Sessions

As part of our theme to get more kids on bikes, PACA is offering several free sessions of mountain bike coaching.

The funds raised by The Tasty Chain (a wine and foodie tour by bicycle) on May 6th allow us to offer this opportunity.

A big thank you goes to Laughing Stock Winery, Elephant Island Winery and JoieFarm Winery for their contributions to our event.

The youth will need their own mountain bikes and safety gear (as well as a method to get to the coaching sessions in Penticton) to participate in this opportunity. They need to know how to ride a bicycle and have a beginner or intermediate skill level. Ages 11-16

A sample of the skills that will be learned during these sessions:

Session 1:
Basic bike knowledge and set up
Equipment needs and how to use (repair kits/tools etc.)
Operation of Controls (Shifters/Brakes)
Position and Balance

Session 2:

Cadence
Terrain Awareness
Direction Control

Session 3:

Limited space is available. Please send your expression of interest to paca.penticton@gmail.com before June 13, 5pm and we will forward an application form. The first session will be the last week in June.

It is our hope that the youth selected for this opportunity will continue to ride with friends and family and will be able to participate in our weekly rides led by the Bike Barn and Freedom the Bike Shop.
